bus from pattaya to trat then on to koh kong

pattaya to trat: 2 years ago you could simply catch the 0610 bangkok to trat bus (east corner klang & sukhumvit) from pattaya to trat.

last year, with all the roadworks on sukhumvit, that service was no longer operating.

so the alternative was a bus to rayong, another to chanthaburi & a 3rd bus to trat.

q1. has the bangkok to trat bus service resumed?

q2. if no, what's the best alternative?

there is an express pattaya to trat bus service run by Phet Prasert Bus Line (office on sukhumvit between north pattaya rd & pattya klang) bt 225.

which would be perfect if it left at a reasonable time (2 departure times: 0300 & 0500).

then minibus from trat bus depot to cham yeam (bt 120; 2hrs)

then moto from border to koh kong (bt 150)

He is coming from Pattaya. Presumably there are vans or buses from Pattaya to Rayong. But a bus or van from Pattaya to Trat would be more convenient for him.  Is there one, is the question.

Since it appears OP already knows how to reach Camb border once in Trat and main question is getting from Pattaya to Trat I am moving this to Pattaya forum, better chance of info there.

Have just been a few times in the last month. Phetprasert was very slow but comfortable . Took about 6 hours from Trat to Pattaya. It made it to Rayong rather quickly then drove around Rayong for about an hour. I'm not sure how long the opposite way. If you go to Google maps and type in bus to trat from Pattaya someone has already kindly put in the van depot next to Tesco off Sukumvit Rd. Departures are 8 am then I think 1 pm. Cost 280 baht. I have caught their vans twice and both times the driver drove quite sedately and I felt safe. The first time I went was Monday and I had to go to Chanthaburi instead and get a Trat bus there but that was actually nice-had time for a toilet break and breakfast. There is another van depot near Harbour Mall but they wanted 400 baht.

The van depot sounds a much better option than Pretprasert.

Is the van depot next to the Tesco just south of Thep Prasit rd off Sukhumvit in South Pattaya?

(Google maps would only display the route from Pattaya to Trat)

Do I need to get to the depot early (to ensure a seat) or can I roll up at 0755?

Thanks for the very helpful info.

Hi. I just searched on Google maps again and it came up as bus to Trat. I get a bit lost up there but it is the Tesco across from St Nikolaus church. The first time I went was a Monday and at 7.30 am the Trat bus was full. I had to go to Chanthaburi and change. The next time was a Tuesday and there was plenty of room on the Trat bus. I rang the day before and tried to book and they said I couldn't but they picked someone up on the way so they must have booked. Maybe if you go the day before and ask? At Trat you just wait till they have a full bus to the border.
