looking for the best hospital in Thailand how can find out what infection i have on a 1 year excisting wound en can cure it.

You've had an infected wound for 12 months and only now you've decided to get a doctors opinion? What's the history of the wound and the treatment you've received? Every little helps.

More information is needed:

- where in Thailand do you live

- where on the body is this wound that is infected

-how did you get the wound

- are you (or could you be) diabetic?

-do you have any cirulatory problems? (disease of blood vessels)

-what treatment have you had so far?

This is all important since management of, for example, a diabetic foot ulcer is different from management of an infected surgical wound etc

make sure you get treatment ASAP  .  my own father fell 10 days ago in pattaya and got wound on his leg, he left it a few days but the wound got infected.  4 days ago we the family were emailed to say that my father condition is very bad and the infection could be " fatal " and we need fly to thailand to be with him, he is now in pattaya memorial hospital and is getting only slightly better,  thank god his insurance is paying the bill.

if your partner is thai i " think "  the government hospitals in KK will treat you free or for a little fee, my wife is thai and i was treated free for jaundice hep B   in udon thani 6 years ago .

No, having a Thai wife or partner does not confer any benefit of free treatment. Occasionally a  Thai hospital will either not know this or nto want to bother with charging because they get so few self-pay patients that they have nto set up a pricing and charging system. That is rare and more likely to be encountered in small hospitals in areas with few foreigners.

But costs in government hospitals for something like this are low.

OP I recommend you to go to Srinagarind (KKU) hospital, using their "after hours" clinic which starts around 4 Pm (get there around 3, you need to register first for a patient card, and they may start giving out queue numbers that early as well).

Without seeing the wound I am nto sure if it is actually just infected or just slow to heal, two different things with different causes. If you are sure it is infected (e.g. there is redness around it and pus) ask to see an acharn specializing in infectious disease. Otherwise just show the wound to the nurse and let them refer to a doctor. If it  is poor healing there could be vascular (circulatory) problems that may need to be investigated.

If they advise being admitted for IV antibiotics do it. It is a government hospital, they  will not advise this if not truly necessary.

If there is any redness surrounding the wound by more than say  half an inch you should not delay.

And if the redness starts to enlarge, it is an emergency.

If in doubt draw a circle around the edges of the red area with a pen and watch.

And yes, being sober for the hospital visit is a good idea
