Myanmar worker stabbed to death in Hat Yai

By The Nation

A Myanmar migrant was stabbed to death in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district late on Tuesday night, allegedly by his Thai neighbour following a dispute.

Police said Muhammad Davut Muangsaku, 36, died on the road near his rented house in the Bon Kai community in Tambon Khohong.

His alleged attacker, Anukij Yodkham, 29, fled the scene.

Police said the two, who live in rented rooms next to each other, often quarrelled.

In the latest dispute, Anukij became angry that the Myanmar man used the water pump late at night. After the dispute, Anukij allegedly hit his neighbour on the head with a pipe and stabbed him in the abdomen with a knife.

Witnesses said the Myanmar man’s wife wept after seeing his body. He was the family’s breadwinner and has left behind three children aged 8, 7 and 3.
