November 25, 20178 yr Mods, Repairs, Bling, Crashes ... I installed Rox Risers and crash bars. Mine are black, and I do not have the Rally.
November 25, 20178 yr I clean it again because I'm trying to sell it. I want to get a CRF250 to sling on the back of the truck.

Very very nice alloy fab work. Seats and tanks aint easy, but a replica dustbin fairing? I take my hat off to that fabricator....
November 26, 20178 yr Popular Post Had the tanks 'n seats off the ty mono's. Had to get at the stator leads (3 wire loom...) to check resistance. Pulse coil readings were way off and the same on both bikes, source coil readings were within spec. 'Ol Blu just runs and runs, but 'Ol Yeller recently has gone through plugs. Plug is dead, replace and off I go again. Put it down to a bad coupla plugs. They are at least 15 y/o NOS from Blighty. Ordered a box of 10 NGK B6ES from my local favourite mom'n'pop corner m/c shop for 450 baht.
November 26, 20178 yr Author Shakedown cruise for the risers and crash bars. Risers made quite a difference, 2 inches does not seem like much but gets your hands up and back straight. Will go source some 10mm SS studs tomorrow, with SS nylocks. Crash bars work great. Can put feet on them like hiway pegs, or rest calf on them, legs straight out. Will be nice on the superslab. Change of position always breaths new life into the 'ol body. Also brought back an Air Hawk seat cushion. Too early to tell yet, but nice. Took a while to get used to it as you move around some, but feel is great. Edited November 26, 20178 yr by canthai55
November 26, 20178 yr Sat.--Had shop replace L/F cowling, black plastic, cracked from ceeber down at Umphang a while back, B600. Sun.--Removed the week-old, but filthy chain from Climber. Cleaned in diesel fuel and w/ toothbrush. A pain. Maybe just buy a new one every week. Like $10-12 for these '480' chain. Donate dirty to some poor Thai with old rusty chain. Dunno. Oh, rode the Cota around in circles and hopped some logs 'n' such. Sweaty. Rode ceeber 25km home, so cool. ;-)
November 27, 20178 yr Popular Post Went to Bo Din and did a demo on how to do full lock U-turns on dirt.
November 27, 20178 yr Built it it's own little house. Turquoise walls outside, white walls inside, with contrasting red steel-work. Pin up pictures of other bikes to make it feel at home, some naked, others scantily clad. Plus we all need a vice.
November 29, 20178 yr Tues. Pre-flighting the Climber, for trail ride, noticed that the kick-start lever gone. <deleted> Bump-started and rode to nearby shop to have it replaced and Chain adjusted. B300. Took her a ride & then rode the COTA slowly in circles for a while. Edited November 29, 20178 yr by papa al
December 1, 20178 yr Popular Post Oh, almost forgot. Had the side covers carbon fiber vinyl wrapped and put some unit stickers on them from my regiment in Vietnam. Though they would look good since the bike is a Stallions.
December 2, 20178 yr '09 Yamaha, Ol' Sparky135 began running poorly at higher power setting. Embarrassing when pulling out across traffic.!! Figured carb or air-filter. Took to shop for new air-filter, oi, & oi-filter. Service: chain, centre- and side-stands. Mechanic test ride. Good to go.
December 2, 20178 yr Put the lock on the wheel, brought in helmet and gloves put the key in the proper place so I don't forget it.
December 3, 20178 yr Author Installed new skid plate. Neglected to glue some closed cell foam to the inside, so a resonance audible from the crank/balancer shaft. Resolve this issue tomorrow.
December 3, 20178 yr 1989 Honda JX110 Switched the old indicator lights for some new LED ones. Needed to change the flasher as well. Much brighter than the old ones, which didn't work.
December 4, 20178 yr Used speed cleaner on my bike. A Thai version of muck off or S100. Much cheaper of course. Used 4 times now and thus far the pain hasn't melted. Thought I'd give it a go on my Weber BBQ. Bad idea, can't light the thing now!
December 4, 20178 yr Noticed that the rear tire on ceeber was getting thin after ~14.000km so took her in to I-Moto north on Sukhumvit on the left before the 3240 turn-off. They had the 100/80-17 Michelin Street Pilot in stock. The front wheel & tire be new, but had them open it to install dynabeads and also apply red rim tape. The mechanic, Bop is 19. Very thorough. He has been working here at least 4 years that Ive seen. papa has bought many tires from these guys. B1400, not bad. 10 satang per kilometer. No rain.
December 6, 20178 yr Messed up a decal I was trying to apply to a fairing I'm replacing. Did the same thing trying to apply a sticker to my pick-up rear window. Good with tools, terrible with stickers.
December 7, 20178 yr Popular Post Finally got the new clutch/upgrade in .....the clutch didn’t actually look that worn ,but I found out what the grinding noise was and why it wouldn’t roll backwards when in first gear with clutch in. the 5 bolts holding the springs and clutch basket in were completely loose could just unwind them by hand and had been grinding into the internal casing,as I was removing all the casing bolts they wasn’t super tight either and I was thinking someone has opened this up before..lol.,,,just another reason why I try not to let other people work on my bikes. Anyway all went back together smoothly and clutch feels a lot better, thanks for all info posted on other threads regarding part numbers etc etc. check out the grinder casing and shards of metal to inside. last picture is the notorious judder springs chucked in the bin and not replaced.
