In rare admission, Trump golfs (quickly) with Woods, Johnson

JUPITER, Fla. (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump played a round of golf on Friday with star professionals Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson, a rare admission that he is taking time out for his favourite pastime.

Trump regularly spends his weekends at a golf course, but the White House typically declines to confirm that the Republican president is, in fact, golfing.

Trump was at his golf course for four hours, long enough to play 18 holes. Reporters and photographers travelling with him stayed in a clubhouse and were not permitted to see any part of the match, but pictures from club members appeared on social media.

Friday was the third consecutive day that Trump has visited a golf course during his Thanksgiving holiday, which he is spending at a resort he owns in Florida. But it was the first time he has said he was on the greens.

Emphasizing that he would first call Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan to discuss Middle East peace issues - and later work on economic issues - Trump said on Twitter that he would "play golf (quickly) with Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson."

Johnson is the world's top-ranked golfer, and Woods is a former world champion who has been trying to make a comeback after a series of back surgeries. Trump also golfed with Woods in Florida last December.

Trump himself is no slouch. Golf Digest magazine has said he has a "low single-digit handicap" and may be the best golfer to hold the office of president.

Former President Barack Obama, a Democrat, also was an avid golfer, spending most weekends and downtime on the course with friends, staff and occasionally fellow world leaders or stars like Woods.

During Obama's tenure, the White House routinely released the names of his golf partners.

But Trump, who regularly excoriated Obama on Twitter for the amount of time he spent golfing, has taken a different tack, most often declining to say whom he is spending time with on the greens.

Trump wants to ask Woods if he can get McDonald's and KFC in prison...

Trump's getting worried and wants to plan ahead ?

Trump might not be worrying b/c he can always run away back to his beloved Russia. I'd love to see him jailed or in a padded cell. However too often only average/poor people are jailed.

I can't believe Trump wouldn't cheat at golf and wouldn't submit fake cards to get a lower handicap.

"This guy cheats from start to finish," Reilly said.

There have been a fair amount of scathing reviews including his liberal use of mulligans, quite long gimmies (length of driver and beyond), driving his cart across greens (they're his I guess).

So why do people put up with it? Because Trump's entertaining. It's fun.

"He's a gracious host. He buys everything. Everything's free, so when he drives across the green ... you're just like, it's a day with Trump," Reilly said. "Playing with Trump is fun, kind of in the way going to the circus is fun."

How many people with integrity would want to be seen alongside 45 - for any reason?

Golden State Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr told CNN’s David Axelrod that a “human respect issue” was part of the reason he and his team won’t be making the traditional White House visit to celebrate their NBA championship win.

“With all of those presidents [President Reagan, President Clinton, both President Bushes] that I mentioned, they were all above reproach in terms of their respect for their fellow man, and their respect for the office. And I don’t think any of us see that right now,” - Kerr (Nov. 25, 2017)

How do you explain to future children/grandchildren that you stood smiling for a photo with an accused serial sexual abuser, race-baiter, alleged traitor, admitted fraudster, admitted money launderer, defender of an accused sexual predator, serial liar, accused rapist and lousy speller?

Nobody else has the courage to say it for fear of being labeled a spelling Nazi. Apparently, in Trump’s America, it is worse than being an actual Nazi.

It's a real shame that Kim Jong Il, with his famous 38 under par round, isn't still around to challenge Trump.  Watching the two cheat their way around a golf course would be comedy gold.

Lindsay Graham said Trump shot a 73 with him last month.

Given gimmies quoting a "score" is classless.

How can his spelling be anything but spectacular? He "has words; so many words; big words." And "he's really smart; smarter than all the generals."  "He went to the Best schools and got great grades; maybe the best grades."

So if we ask the LIAR a/b spelling I'm sure he'll say the world spells things incorrectly; because he is NEVER incorrect - ever PERIOD. "-)

Should be thankful he's not spending more time in DC causing more damage. Any day spent golfing is just another day he haven't messed up with something, and one day closer to the end of his term (or impeachment, whichever comes first).

Surprising, as he can't seem to coordinate his brain with his mouth (and sometimes his body).
