It is no big mystery. Nor is there a conspiracy, nor crime wave. Pattaya attracts people of certain socio economic and psychological characteristics, which predisposes them to suicide and death by misadventure. Pattaya has a large population of people who are physically inactive, smokers, financially limited, heavy drinkers, older, less educated and subject to chronic diseases. Therefore the higher incidence of suicides, deaths through misadventure, falls, disease etc. reflects this. Pattaya is also a convention town and "wilder" tourist destination, so it attracts people who are going to exploit such visitors. If 40% + of the visitor population has this demographic instead of 10%, then it is to be expected that there will be a higher negative outcome. The only effective way to reduce the incidence is to block these people from entering and staying in the country.
