‘Security issues may delay lifting of political ban’

It will get worse and the govts perceived security issues will increase tenfold if they fail to lift the political ban within a month or two at the latest. It looks very much that the junta wants this unrest to occur as an excuse to remain in power for the forseeable future. The International community will also react to this decision for delaying elections. They can see very well the juntas intentions.

I think your first point is dead right and your second dead wrong. The 'International community' care only about what is in it for their capitalists and all we can expect are a few raised eyebrows and vague murmurs of disapproval.

A "Grand Coalition" - the two big parties uniting to allow civilian democratic rule......

It wouldn't last, after a few months some bunch or other will accuse them of uniting to plot against democracy. Street protests will follow (surprisingly lavishly funded from unknown sources), demands will be made for "reforms before elections", and for power to be handed to an appointed government. When those protests start to run out of puff the army will pull a coup - spontaneously, of course. The head of whichever Orwellian titled national council is formed (read junta) will announce that he is a democratic soldier, so don't worry, they just have to affect national reconciliation...

Then the cry will go up," Has anyone got old Meechai's telephone number, we will need a new constitution."

Seems that the junta here think that unless there is some sort of fairytale utopian society everywhere worthy of resembling an Amazing Thailand TAT advert then lifting the ban on political activity can't even be considered. Any freaking lame excuse will do by the look of it.

Sorry but Ko Tee cannot be considered any more as a credible scapegoat. They should have thought about it before eliminating him. Obvious lack of strategic thinking! :cheesy:

A reason for delaying lifting the political ban and/or the election can be trotted out at will. This one, "security concerns" is becoming as regular as the "kind honest taxi driver" stories that pop up after any bad tourist experiences.

As for Ko Tee - speculating on if he's been eliminated and if so by whom is just that, speculation. Unless of course you have evidence to show? But isn't pertinent. They'll blame his group or another "leader" if it suits.

In a feudal hierarchy where lying is considered normal and acceptable, the higher you are the more you expect anything you say to be taken as the truth and never challenged or questioned. That's why they get more ridiculous.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if an upcoming election got cancelled because they ran out of pens, voting paper, ballot boxes, or any other equally lame event that someone dreamed up while eating his noddles.

I agree with you about Ko Tee,  we have no proof of what happened to him.

I just could not resist the tentation to make fun of it, in case they did!

The junta might not lift the current political ban as Deputy PM and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan claimed on Friday there were increasing intelligence inputs on movements that could “harm security”.

“Some groups of people have started to move. If it goes on like this, lifting the political ban is hard,” Prawit said. “But we also can’t maintain the political ban [forever]. We may lift it closer to election.”

Well, if they do not lift the political ban "closer" to the election, there will be no point in holding an election at all, will there?

Is there any point anyway?

The problem with continuing to lie about elections and use the imaginary specter of Ko Tee as an excuse is that this is likely to produce real Ko Tees but the junta doesn't seem to have much of a grasp of cause and effect.

A good liar is somebody you do not realise is lying. This ape is in fact a crap liar, just a prolific one.

So we both agree on one thing then and that was the point,

Intelligence = They have no idea where RedBull man is or the monk or even the first lady Yingluck and loads of others, yep lots of Intelligence around here, but outside the borders
