One of our insiders might cough up a few more details. on the plus side, it's one of the few streets that is safe to walk on without worrying about speeding motorbikes. If all streets were like this, there may be less accidents. Hmmmm.....

" Wouldn't Pattaya have to become a resort of international standing in order for something "bad" to happen its standing. It currently is just a cesspool with lots of hookers. But so many members of non-Thai nationalities are constantly complaining about the members of other non-Thai nationalities, particularly those not here for the hookers. We seem to have quite a lot of those nowadays. They particularly enjoy this sleazy place: Must be all that fornicating on the escalators.

Pattaya then becomes just a ghost town of bleached ruins and the Thais who once worked here return to rice fields. Heh heh. The fact that Pattaya has always had clean, beautiful, perfectly even streets with no potholes has always been a main attraction. Quality tourists! In Pattaya! I must have missed the millisecond that a "quality" tourist was in Pattaya. NB- wealthy enough to stay in a 5* does not make them "quality". Edited December 5, 2017 by thaibeachlovers

Once T21 opens there'll probably be as many shoppers as in Avenues at 5 am.

Oh, you know quite well who the real quality is: the "naughty mongers," the economic powerhouses behind Pattaya's now-vanished prosperity, the great jobs creators, the Golden Eggs Layers, who were "put off" and all have left for the paradise-of-the-week. Or perpetually leaving or perpetually are going to leave our beloved cesspool because of this or that last nail in the coffin. Unlike all the other tourists, they spend humongous sums of money--accounting, we all know, for most of the GDP of Thailand--without, you're quite right, staying in 5*s.
