Police in a village in Udon have charged a couple with murder after they attacked and killed the wife's ex husband who they claimed was pestering them.

Singthong Wichai went round to his ex-wife's house in Non Thong sub-district where she was sleeping with her new husband Noi Baothonglor.

Noona Inkong, 52, went out to confront him and attacked him about the head with a knife. Then Noi joined in and repeatedly wielded an axe at the victim until he was dead.

A neighbor called Salat Mahaphrom who tried to intervene is in a serious condition after also being attacked.

After the incident about 10pm on Monday night the wife and her new man quickly decided that she would take the rap alone so one of them could stay out of jail. They hid the axe.

But the local constabulary were not to be fooled - they couldn't believe that she was capable of committing the murder alone. At 8 am in the morning her new husband broke down and admitted his involvement.

Cops soon found the axe hidden under a bed at the house.

They were taken on a reenactment back to their house later on Tuesday morning.

The pair have been charged with the murder of Singthong and committing grievous bodily harm on the neighbor and have been detained.

Another tragic incident.

I imagine the wife had no say in the 'taking the rap alone' decision, he probably decided that himself.

Anyway, hopefully, they will both be incarcerated for, what sounds like, quite a brutal murder.

As it stands it was her ex husband. That has to mean they were divorced. Think if they had real marriages as a tradition in this country, then they could just have been calling the police if the "ex" husband disturbed them too much.

Seriously.... they hid the axe?

an axe? Surely police here aren’t so poorly trained as to not know the difference between the wounds of a knife and axe ( repeated wielded an axe until dead!)

maybe they should have hidden the knife.... but then... from OP... “ the local constabulary was not to be fooled”.... lmao

And..... From OP..... “A neighbor called Salat Mahaphrom who tried to intervene is in a serious condition after also being attacked.”

good man for trying to intervene.... I hope he has a swift and complete recovery.... lucky they didn’t try to off him as well, to cover their tracks

This is Thailand and the word "marriage"  covers many living together situations.  Also ex-husband can offer mean a "husband" who has simply left and gone somewhere else.  Whatever the situation here there is no point trying to attach first world principles.  To get divorced (as in a registered marriage) is very simple in Thailand.  Both parties go to the government office and say they want a divorce.  They then sign some papers and pay a fee and off they go.  However the fee is often enough reason to not bother going to the trouble so they just go their own way without registering it.

It was not a first world priciple. It was a solution that leads to a change. Something that must happen in all areas in Thailand, for any changes to the better shall come. This was only a small part.
And, by the way, I know that this is Thailand. It´s been my home for over 17 years.

Fee for consensual divorce is 20baht

Still hiding things under the bed where nobody will think of looking !!

Apparently not as the man had to first confess and then show the cops the axe hidden strategically under the bed. Top flight police work... again!
