PHNOM PENH, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian authorities on Tuesday confiscated 941 kg of elephant tusks at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in southwestern Preah Sihanouk province, a government-aligned media reported.

Some 279 pieces of elephant tusks were found in hollowed-out logs inside three containers, which had been imported from the southern African nation of Mozambique by Cam Transit Import Company, Fresh News reported, citing a police report.

The company declared in a manifest that the goods were timbers, the report said, adding that the seizure came after the authorities scanned those containers. In December last year, about 1.58 tons of elephant tusks, elephant tails, wild animal bones, and pangolin scales were also discovered concealed inside timbers in containers, which were shipped from Mozambique.
