As flooding still prevails in nine southern provinces, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is scheduled to visit Trang and Nakhon Si Thammarat on Friday (Dec 8) for inspection, a government source said.

Gen Prayut and his entourage will first travel to Muang and Kantang districts of Trang province to see the situation, before listening to a briefing on a water draining project for the Trang River from concerned officials.

He will then visit the flood-hit people and distribute relief items and survival kits in Trang, before proceeding to Nakhon Si Thammarat.

According to the latest summary of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, eleven provinces had been hit by massive flooding between Nov 25-Dec 6. The situation has eased in Krabi and Satun, leaving 88 districts of nine provinces partly inundated.

The nine provinces are Pattani, Yala, Songkhla, Phatthalung, Trang, Chumphon, Narathiwat, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani.
