Hi all, lots of respect for those who persevere in learning Thai language, which i find extremely difficult to understand, although having learned the alphabet, a few words, and being able to have a simple conversation.

I have a question for the most proficient in Thai language and culture.

How to say to an ex-loved one that, once the trust is destroyed, it's not easy to rebuild ?

Something like the English " Once bitten twice shy "...

Is there an expression in Thai language to say : " sorry, i don't trust you very much "... Without offending someone ?

Thanks in advance for replies !

. กำชี้ดีกว่ากำตด กำ being a handful. Anything is better than nothing.

edit: The Thai says

People might have other ideas on the English.

I thinned an iron short of the green today so thought I would tryกำขี้ดีกว่ากำตด on my caddy, meaning a bad shot is better than nothing He told me that if you are promised 1000baht to morrow or can have 200 baht today, then you take the 200 because กำขี้ดีกว่ากำตด

That sounds a lot like 'a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.' to me.

definitely a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush- something that is certain is worth far more than something that is chancy.

I agree bannork. I just mentioned the post to a friend and เจ๊บแล้วจำ was what I got back, if explaining to someone 'once bitten twice shy' then there would definitely have to have a นะ added at least.

It is very difficult when one doesn't read Thai but assuming that poanoi's 'kwam' is กำ then how would it be used? Can we make the circumstances fit or modify what he thinks.
If you offer some money and the reaction is negative could you just advise them with
or/and having accepted so little could you explain with

I think that you could.

If anybody reaearches 'A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush' they are likely to find สิบเบี้ยใกล้มือ which is 'the bird in hand'.
The little thing which you are sure to get and should secure before trying for more.

So to marry the two sayings I think that we have to say that
