BANGKOK, 18th December 2017 (NNT) – The Ministry of Commerce plans to hold talks with the Egg Board of Thailand to seek measures to deal with the recent substantial drop in chicken egg prices.

The Commerce Minister, Sontirat Sontijirawong, said today that egg prices have decreased due to an excess supply of eggs in the domestic market. He said his ministry and the Egg Board will meet to find ways to deal with the situation.

Mr. Sontirat said the ministry will initially help small farmers by selling their chicken eggs at the government's Blue Flag outlets, where low-priced consumer products are being sold. The ministry will also look into the country's imports of chickens used for breeding, to prevent egg prices from falling further.

The Commerce Minister said farmers, who are under contract or have been pressured by business operators, can file complaints with the ministry if they believe that they are being unfairly treated.

Interesting. What is the price of a falling egg?

Invoke article 44 to stop chickens laying so many eggs?

Stop producing so many eggs would seem to be the simplest way.

Once those foreign chickens have gone that is.

Isn't that the tray the eggs sit on?

Or they could just let the prices fall at the consumers' benefit.

I propose Thais learn some new egg recipes, which would increase demand.  I'm sick of eating the same old spicy fermented thing three times a day.  My family loves it when I make French Toast for breakfast.  Custards are also nice and easy.

Only import infertile chickens, that should solve the problem. Either that or stop feeding viagara to the Cockerells.

Humpty Dumpty is shattered by this news...........

I bought an eggsbox from the corner shop as I heard it was v good for computer games. I sat it next to my computer but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Should I put an apple or a blackberry in it, would that help?

It might, but don't forget to open a window first. Remember, if it rains with your windows open you'll need a mac.

This no Yoke and will end up in a scramble

Someone told me I should get rid of my old 7 windows and buy 10 new ones. My wife tells me we have enough windows already.  She's Thai so is an eggspert on everything.

I'd put off any new equipment purchases until the eggs stop falling.
