I had to look this up because "BSB codes" are new to me.

Apparently they are an Australian concept used to identify a particular branch of a bank. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_State_Branch

In Britain and Ireland they're referred  to as Sort Codes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sort_code

HOWEVER..... some people are asking about the 3 digit number on the back of a Credit or Debit card.

This is a CSC or CVV number and is international across most card issuers and serves a different purpose as the web sites explain.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Card_security_code

https://www.cvvnumber.com/

AFAIK, without that CSC or CVV number, one couldn't use the card online

Thanks for the explanation, not knowing what a BSB is was a bit frustrating, makes sense now, and I'm pretty sure most people are aware of the security code on the back, just checked my Kasikorn VISA debit card, no BSB or sort code, just the CSC on the back

I think this storm in a teacup has blown over.

To prevent further confusion I'm going to close it.

However, if our OP has further information when he gets / fails to get a new Visa Debit card he's welcome to PM me and I'll re-open.
