webfact Posted December 21, 2017 Share Posted December 21, 2017 More uninvited guests in Thai tinned fish - this time tapeworms Picture: Daily News A woman is demanding answers from a leading supplier of tinned fish after finding worms in several cans she opened for her dinner. The news comes hot on the heels of another similar case last week. Surang Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya said she bought the tins from a shop near her home in Ratchaburi. On closer inspection she was sure that long white things embedded in the flesh of the fish were worms. After opening the first can she opened two more that were the same. The rounded heads and tails were intact on some of the specimens. Picture: Daily News She said her son sent a sample to be examined by a lab technician friend in Bangkok who confirmed that they were tapeworms known as "payathi tua teut" in Thai. She took some of the specimens to the Democrat Party HQ in Ratchaburi yesterday to shame the authorities into doing something about it. Public health officials are now carrying out their own tests.
