Education Ministry to get tough on corruption

BANGKOK, 18 January 2018 (NNT) – The Ministry of Education is poised to sign onto cooperate with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to perform graft checks in tandem with disciplinary evaluations.

Minister of Education Dr. Theerakriat Charoensattasin recently attended a meeting of his office’s committee on facilitating corruption suppression to discuss graft issues within the ministry.

The gathering resolved to coordinate with independent agencies in probing instances of corruption within its ranks. The ministry is to work with the NACC, which empowers both the Public Anti-Corruption Commission and Anti-Money Laundering Office to engage in probes, and will allow investigations to take place in tandem with disciplinary evaluations. Dr. Theerakriat is to further discuss the collaboration with the NACC.

On suspected graft in the Songkla Lake Marine Farm Study Center project by Tinsulanonda Fisheries College, the ministry acknowledged that the Office of the Ombudsman had requested the Office of Vocational Education Commission look into possible malfeasance. It has now approved the Office of the Ombudsman launch a probe into the program and had the Office of Vocational Education Commission establish a committee to study the facts.

On Director of Samsen School Wirot Samruan, who was recently found in violation of disciplinary regulations, Dr. Theerakriat made known legal procedures are being followed while clarifying that parents are allowed to present their children for entry into schools but they must follow the proper procedure.

Oooooh...another one getting "tough" on corruption!

Haven't heard that one before!

:coffee1:

:cheesy:

Education ministry to get tough on corruption.

Well start at the top, how much money did the top man pay for his position?

Work down from that, every 1 who has a senior position paid big money to get it.

So what they are saying, we are going to get tough on ourselves !!!!!! dont think so.

"The Ministry of Education is poised to sign onto cooperate with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to perform graft checks in tandem with disciplinary evaluations."

What? So, such a large ministry has not been co-operating with anti-corruption commissions up until now and has just got round to coming to the conclusion that "corruption suppression" is a go. Finally being dragged kicking and screaming under duress to heel huh. Ground Control to MoE...come in.

The Con is on

Hoorah! Let's have another crackdown!

Good to see they still have a sense of humor at the MoE.

A recent ASEAN survey asked a sample from each country: “How well does the educational system in your country meet the needs of a competitive economy?” and ranked the results on a scale from 1 = not well at all and 7 = extremely well.

The  results were as follows:

Singapore 5.8
Malaysia 5.0
Brunei 4.4
Indonesia 4.3
Philippines 4.3
Laos 4.0
Thailand 3.6
Cambodia 3.2
Vietnam 3.4
Myanmar 2.1

I believe the money allocated to the Ministry is generally thought to be quite generous.  It doesn't always seem to reach the classrooms too effectively.  Still positions and promotions being bought and talent and dedication unrewarded.  And lots of respect and wais demanded by the undeserving.

If you think of this as a sense of humor, you have no style at all,..... this isn't a freaking joke here........

In all seriousness Max, I think it hilarious the ministry has any intention of toughening it's stance on the Big C.

"Saying" you're tough on corruption is all the rage.  Doing something about it though???

It is so hilarious, that you have to actually cry in all sadness......

I ain't even sure whether I shall laugh or should I cry????

Just laugh, crying over this would be futile.

Less talk and more action. We don’t need the usual fanfare. So crack the whip and do something and not procrastinate and kick the can down the road.

"OK, everyone, wrists under the table or remove your watches before we let the press in!"

The ministry is to work with the NACC

Already starting in the wrong direction.

NACC can 't even resolve "watchgate."
