Government veterinarians in rural Songkhla province are trying to save the life of a female tiger, 20, with a two kilogram cancerous breast tumor that had already spread the disease to the internal organs.

Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) and Prince of Songkla University medical professionals operated on the tiger, named Or Noi, on Saturday, at Hat Yai’s Tone Nga Chang Wildlife Sanctuary, reported Bangkok Post.

The tiger was found in 2015 in Nakhon Pathom province and taken into custody by the DNP. It began living at the Songkhla sanctuary in 2016.

I  hope  this  is  not  just  an excuse  for  experimentation ! If  the  cancer  had   already  metatasized  to  internal organs then the  outcome is unlikely to be in  favour  of  the  tiger.
