True and I agree. However, where I went wrong was trusting too much and putting myself too much into the marriage. Had I been less so I'd have been far better off today. That I was trusting didn't save me from a family that wanted to exploit me. It was the long con, which is excellent for allaying due dilligence.

I was trying to be studiously neutral in my appraisal of Thailand but I need not have bothered as he was neither interested in my 20 years experience of travelling thru Asia or my last 7 years experience of residing in Thailand.

 

After 6 months back in Oz here is the score so far;

 

Two males sending money to ladies of questionable virtue that they met in Oz but who are both back in Thailand.Neither of those two males have ever traveled outside of Australia.

One male who has been to Thailand for 3 weeks but is now quite prepared to sink a substantial slab of his superannuation money into his g/fs business and to move there permanently.

 

None of the above appeared to have the slightest interest in Thai society,culture,politics or history.

 

They turned pale when I described to them the delights of Isaan som tam and and all three confessed to an aversion for chilli..pet...pet..

 

Therefore I must agree with a previous poster that it is some kind of fantastical drug...part sexual allure..part exotica..part fantasy..

 

(But sometimes I go into withdrawals myself:smile:)

If my understanding is correct, she wants me to pollinate her. My bee sting might do the job.

A wilted rose is revived by water and fertiliser, so other than defecating and peeing on her, I don't know what else to do for her.

Indeed, if one were able to distill the essence of Thai woman and make a potion of it, millions of western women would buy it, thereby making one exceptionally rich.

 

Seriously, I think if western women had the same appeal, not a single western male would ever look for a wife in LOS, but the fact is that western women have so poisoned the well that many men prefer to travel thousands of miles to try with women of a completely different culture, just to get what they should be able to get at home, but can't. Often at great detriment to themselves, but they will keep trying, and things back home will not be changing for the better, but IMO only getting worse.

The current anti male hysteria in the US is certainly not going to make males want to mate with them more.

Lol...just who do you guys think you are? Delusions of grandeur. No woman owes you anything. That's why most of you are in Thailand. It's just cheaper...but like Thai beer you are also getting scammed when it comes to quality.

You can't point out where I claimed a woman "owes" me anything, or claimed it was cheaper in LOS, or even said anything about quality.

I don't even drink beer, wherever it comes from.

You know the Thais Believe that if you put yourself in the way of a thief, or leave you’re Possessions, (Or Life) in a vulnerable position, well then you are as much to blame, as the People who steal it ! ? .... …  Maybe this is why cases are not really Criminally Prosecuted like they should be, …  And  "Who's Gun was it" ??? ... Did this guy have a Merc, and Guns in his House ??? ... (Ho Hum, I am glad that I have No friends like him !!!) ....

 

I have been living with the same Thai woman now, off and on for Oh ? 34 Years !!! And she gets a bit heavy with the cash for the Extended Family sometimes, still she ALSO stops them ripping me off for anything over about a thousand Bart !!! And only once in a while !!! and well it is my decision to give that, as well, I have been Lucky, ... we all should share it around, ... Locally I think, ... if we are Lucky ???  ... And SHE always gets it back eventually !!! … So well, not a bad Run... it all being divided by 34 Years !!! , and I factor it in as just a Business expense

 

So the Down side !!! … Well she is very old now !!! … Like she actually used to go to school in a Boat !!! …. And The Upside … Well, If she was educated or a Western Woman, ... I probably would have been divorced by now, and lost half my assets. …  But I am not, ... and have not.

 

So the Hint Fellas, ... 1. Never go with Serious Gamblers !!! .. Well if they can pay off their own debts ? Maybe just stay aloof of it, …. Like it is a Thai Young person’s thing. (Mine actually got caught with the pack of Cards still in her hand, ..Which was pretty funny we all thought !!!, ... after we had got her out of Goal), ... still we BOTH were on the same page, and I was not paying off Porn shop, or gambling Debts,

 

So well Rule one, never pay off any Porn shop debts until it is good by time again, ... and 2 never pay off any Gambling debts at all, ... find a new Woman in Preference to that. (And if you do it twice !!! ... Well, REALLY, ... More the Fool YOU !!!)

 

And 3. The Oldest Sister might be a bit old, but well, with her, she will be able to keep the Younger Siblings out of your Pocket, if she really is on your side, ...

 

4. Make sure that in your Relationship, ..You are BOTH on the same Side.

 

5. Do not go for the youngest Sister even if she is the Queen of Godiva !!! ... As it WILL cost you .... (I think my self)

 

...  I could be callous here and say that Woman with Mothers that Die are also a lot better, ... but well, I might get struck for Lightening for saying that !!! ... And well you have to have a woman being the Oldest of course, … that can take the families reigns, ... AND be able to handle that situation. (The Mothers often are as bad as any of them I think !!! ???) ....  

 

Like some of the Thai on Thai, stories that you hear, about Mothers, ripping off their hard working Daughters, (Well, I actually have only seen One Really, ... but well it was a REAQLLY bad one !!! The Poor hard working Daughter !!!) But it does happen I think, around here, like they do not just Rip off  Foreigners, they often rip off each other also ... Right )  even outside the Sex Trade, just ripping Her hard earn’t Salary off !!! … Like men, that use it as an excuse to go out and Kill people that they do not even know (In the Army in wars Right) …. They do it “For their family” !!! … Right !!! ??? … Rip ff their Good and hardworking Daughters ....  (NO, - For their own Power, in the Bad Mothers case More likely I think)

I  have  had a  quick loo at  every  page  on this  topic.

This  one....no easy  read  but  generally   insightful.

The   vast  majority  of  negativity in  comment  explains  more   about  the  person   making  the  comment  than anything valid in criticism. 

Old  fools  or  young  who come  to a country  and  culture they  have  little  comprehension  of  rarely  will  admit  to  being   spurned  or  burned  in  country of  origin initially.

I  have  witnessed so  many   who enter the  LOS  only  to  discover  it  is  really  LOO ! ( Land  of Oportunity ) . What too  many never  think  to consider is  who  is  the more  adept opportunist ?

The   mistake  is the  assumed  superiority that  disposable income provides.

After 30  years  of  living  is  South East Asia   I have learned  that  putting  your  money where  your  mouth is  and then  keeping that  mouth firmly  shut is  as  successful  as  proving that  disposable  income  is extremely limited.

Those around  you  will  then be  more likely  to  stay close  for  reasons  other  than   cash. Those  that  depart are  not who  you  would   want  to stay.

As  said  above...It is  imperative  to both be on the  same  side.

Or  alternatively delude  yourself into  believing  you  can  buy your way into Thailand!
