Gus told me that the new owners will turn it into a "nice family style restaurant" so obviously I won't fit in :D

Oh, but you WILL fit in; photo of new owner's target clientele:

i heard from "sources" that In n Out burgers in closed down since yesterday. anyone can confirm this?

I heard that Mike was bored with it and intends to close down and move to Phuket and start opening restaurants there.

Must be true! :o

Dined at the original Chiangmai Saloon tonight for the 1st time in several months. I think I wrote awhile back that they had seven kinds of burgers on the menu but this time I counted nine. Had the cheeseburger, excellent. Tried the chili for the first time, also very good. My companion had fried chicken breast with mashed potatoes, both cooked to perfection.

As convivial as ever, the place was filled with cheery faces imbibing cold beer, and the pool table in back was active. I like that they often have a concert DVD showing on the big screen; this time it was a recent Santana concert, last time it was U2's Rattle & Hum. For me the music goes well with burgers, chilis, hot dogs, etc. Most places in CM serving burgers have no music or some kind of weak aural wallpaper .... :o I have to agree with City Life's burger roundup: CM Saloon is still #1.

Disclaimer: I don't know the owner, never met him ... :D

I think that new one is opening in Chiang Mai. Thapae Gate had a lot of sweeties with short skirts and Burger King posters today! :o

Burger King just opened today (Monday) Located on Cnr Chang Klan & Loy Khroy rd opposite McDs, under the huge TV screen. Good location, Im glad they reopened as I like a good BK.

Roll on the burger wars. Personally I loathe McDonalds but I don't mind the occasional BK Whopper. However it is not going to make me change my preference of a cheese burger from CM Salloon 1.

I can't put my finger on just why Ron's burgers are best, but I think so too. :D

What the THB220 one with Aussie beef? That one is good, but bloody expensive. The THB100 one at the UN.Irish pub is much better than the saloons equivilent IMO. :o

The bacon-cheese burger with Aussie beef. I don't know how much it costs, but it was waaay below 220 last time that I had it.

Maybe that is a double?

I think that went West when Bill Heineke was having problems with his US licenses. Minor Group lost the license to run BK in Thailand.

Hi!

In Hang Dong there's a new restaurant near Baan Tawai junction, in the menu there are burgers, pizzas (pan-and thin), pasta..Thai food.

Also good coffee and ice cream. Nice place to sit next to a market.

Yours or the wife's by any chance? :o

Will check it out anyhow on my next trip down the Hang Dong Road. :D

JxP

Stopped by there today for lunch. It's next to 7-11 at Baan Tawai intersection. Good burger, excellent milkshake and soso fries (the thin kind). Prices about 40% less than Mikes. I'll stop by again if i'm in the area and for meals when the gf leaves town.

the whole frontage of the plaza is closed up now. Pizza Hut is gone, must be redelveloping the whole site.

My understanding is that the money has finally been released from the flood damage funds. The understory had been renovated then it was flooded, then renovated again, and flooded the second time. Money held up forced the closure because there was structural damage. Baskin Robbins, Pizza Hut, Swensen, JJs out the back, Burger King and all the shops underneath went bust.

The building is being refurbished and apparently there will be a new Pizza Hut, Pizza Company, Swensen, and Baskin Robbins. Not sure if Burger King will reopen there being so close to the one just opened next to McDonalds.

Speculation is also that the land next to the D2 which is owned by Chang and used as a beer garden will have new shops built there to replace the ones that they pulled down to build the Hotel. Chang has lost a lot of money (again) doing a half arsed beer garden and they have to reevaluate what they are trying to do.

used to be the Fillmore had the best burgers anytime day or nite,, has it moved,, used to be in Loi kroh,,

I believe the Fillmore East is no more, but i could be wrong. It's not in Loi Krowboy anymore that's for sure. I used to like the fact he had some great concerts on DVD and the food was alright as well..It was always a good laugh unless Yoshi the great was there.. :o

His girlfriend was hot and was left penniless.

Can be found sometimes hanging around in the Loi Kroh area. :o

As Roy Orbison said about the inspirational phrase for his hit "Pretty Woman", "A pretty woman NEVER needs any money"

Also, I'm excited about BK being here. Whopper with cheese coming my way, I wonder if they deliver? (like McD's)
