A back to back is not a colleaque. It's a person you can rely on 24 hours a day to watch your back while you do the same for him.

So what went so wrong then?  If it is not a small minority then why have they only caught ten people and only one for a crime you could consider undesirable?  Only one!

It's a job, you work together, therefor you are colleagues, and all sorts of jobs require similar things of colleagues, if you thought there was something unique about army colleagues then it is you who could use some more life experience.

It's interesting that so many posters assumed that all of the non-white people were arrested for drug dealing. Only 1 of the 10 people picked up was arrested on drug charges. The others were taken into custody for immigration issues.

Immigration issues meaning they had broken Thai law plus dealers usually aren't users so checks would show negative results.

Oh, in the United States you can't look at a black man or woman without being called a racist.   If this happened in the U.S. you'd have the NAACP, ACLU, untold lawyers, Obama, and countless government officials rushing to these guys defense.  It would be all over the news for days.  They would all get a million dollars and a new car.

You know as well as I do that this thread has been scrubbed clean by the moderators who probably removed at least a dozen posts that were out-and-out racist, some of which I strongly suspect you expressed your approval of. To now pretend that anyone who was offended by and objected to those comments is just a hyper-sensitive slave to political correctness is disingenuous nonsense.

There are criminals from all races and all are evident here (some more overtly seen than others) in Thailand plus should all be ejected for the same reason. There are many that are hyper-sensitive about such issues and try to manipulate it for their own ends...but the case remains the same, all scumbags from wherever should be treated harshly and ejected. Nothing to do with racism and those that shout it are morons.

I think you are conflating two issues here.

 

The first issue that all criminals of all races should be treated equally, I think most, including me, are in agreement with you about.

 

The second issue is the disparaging comments made on this thread about African and non-white people being arrested many of which were along the lines of "kick them all out, because they're all up to no good," which I and a number of other posters (including mods) found to be objectionable.

 

Another issue pertained to people cheering the prospect that the Thai police were targeting and racially profiling non-white visitors to the kingdom. I think this largely came from the thread header which describes a "color coded crackdown" which many appear to have interpreted to mean that - wink-wink nod-nod - racial minorities were being targeted, when the only color coded thing about the operation may have been the operation's name Black Eagle which may also have further led some readers to assume black people were being targeted. However, if you read the article, it says that police weren't targeting any specific racial group but "areas highly frequented by tourists." Maybe they were going after pockets of African nationals, I honestly don't know, but a careful reading of the article does not necessarily lead one to this conclusion.

Thailand are full of racists, most Thai people like to be/stay white, hence the umbrellas in the sun.

Not only Africans, even Thai people with darker skin are called 'daam' or 'ling'.

People of Lao/Isaan/Khmer origin are lesser people.

I have experienced this since the early '80s, and it hasn't changed.

Two nights ago had a drink with my Wop mate. He sometimes calls me a Haggis muncher and I call him a Pasta muncher.
