Marriage to foreigners not all it's cracked up to be complains Isaan woman stuck in Farangland!

An Isaan country girl has gone on Facebook to moan about life with a foreign man abroad.

 

It is just not the bed of roses that she imagined.

 

Everything is not laid on for her all day so she can sleep and eat.

 

She explains in North Eastern dialect as a warning to others:

 

She has to take responsibility for herself.

 

She has to look after her own child.

 

Things are not done for her - there appear to be no maids in Meuang farang ("Farangland")

 

There are no regular handouts of cash and gifts.

 

"What's more - things are expensive - and I mean expensive," she says. "What you can find in the markets of Isaan to eat for five or ten baht costs 100 baht. 

 

"There are none of the things that we can find for free growing in the wild.

 

"A dinner at a restaurant that might cost 100 or 200 in Thailand is 1,000 baht a head. It sets you back 6,000 for the family to eat", said the unnamed woman who was wearing a T-shirt indicating she might be in Germany.

 

She continued: "It's not "sabai, sabai" like Thailand. In Thailand everyone calls each other auntie or uncle, brother and sister - not here".

 

Pictures of the woman looking pregnant on a beach probably in Thailand went with the Phenkhao aricle.

 

Phenkhao chipped in that marrying a farang (white Caucasian) was the dream of many Thai women. They thought it meant an easy and comfortable life that would help to raise the standard of living of those left back home in Thailand.

 

But, they added, the fact is many Thai women find out it is just a dream. Reality is different.

She forgot to mention, that if she had to work (Buddha forbid) to help supporting the family, the minimum wage in Germany is 8.84 Euro = 353  baht PER HOUR......

I think she has a better understanding of life in the west than a great many of westerns have of Thailand.

 

Especially those that speak of peasants, living in the jungle or eating garbage.

I have no idea why some men want to take care of another woman like she’s a child. 

 

My friend takes care of his missus, her two horrible kids from a previous marriage, the mother in law, and a couple of cousins. He pays for everything. He seems to like being the master of the house. I told him that helping people is a very commendable thing, but the lot you’re taking care of seemingly don’t think they have to take care of themselves, also. They’ve become spoilt and he’s become resentful because of it. 

 

Nothing worse than lazy and spoilt people (of any nationality).

Give her a break she is speaking honestly-and very much to the point-about the clash of cultures.I prefer  honesty to dishonesty,don't you?

 

I recall that about 2 years ago an honest Thai woman said the same things about her life in Germany with the usual ballyhoo from ThaiVisa posters.

Right. Jungle peasants don't eat garbage but insects, leaves, tree bark and the occasional stray dog.

 

Quite hard to find those in frozen German winter landscapes.

where many of them are getting married just for the sake of it or for all the wrong reasons..

if only Thai women what foreign men are expecting from a woman here in Thailand

Well looks like she got her dream & landed a Falang, but now know's what we stand for

 

* Responsibility - To right you are not a child any more & are answerable to the laws & way in life

 

* Children - I guess she was hoping to pass them of to some one like most of Issan does whilst she can do whatever (maybe even go work)

 

* No Maids - Well that must be a shock, if only she knew she may have arranged a work permit for the one that she had prior. Don't know how she is going to do all those daily chores now

 

* Handouts - I guess the village people were rocking up hand over foot to give to her, or was that the kind people in Pattaya

 

* Expensive - & Thailand still wont get it that all Falangs aren't rich due to this

 

* Brother / Sis / Ect - Just learnt that Falangs have an immediate family & not the whole village as they are not related' which makes less of them coming if they ask for money

Yes I think they are being a bit hard on her, when she talks on the video it's about someone to look after her child its in relation to her working...I know my daughter in Oz used to lose nearly half her wage (& she is high paid) dropping my pre school grandchild off at a day care centre, so she could work.

Yes sure some of her complaints are superficial, but just reflect on the fact that nearly 70%  of the letters on here contains moans about some ridiculous things from mature adult people who have come to live here, not some young person who has probably just taken her first trip aboard.
