Tourist visa 60 days extension

Featured Replies

Can you extend a tourist visa for 60 days if married to Thai

You can extend the 60 day entry from a tourist visa for 60 days to visit your wife.

I requested a 60 day multiple entry visa from the Thai Consulate in Chicago IL.  I paid the $200, sent in my passport and was returned with the page size  stamp.  Now I am nearing my 60  day end, and I checked my passport and it said it expired after 30 days!!!   I know now I should have checked, and will be going to the immigration office tomorrow, but my question is, did the immigration official at the airport in BKK where I arrived make a mistake and should have dated it for 60 days?

Yes they made a mistake. Your local immigration office can correct the error.

You needed to write your Visa number on the arrival card

That isn't the problem.

I notice lots of regular visitors are getting 30 day stamps regardless of what they entered on.

It's up to individuals to check the date stamps, or face a visit to their local Imm office to have it corrected.

Yes, I went to IO in today and initially they said I overstayed and when I pointed out my Tourist Visa they admitted to the mistake and Gave me the 30 dayI requested.  Important lesson here, of course, do not take anything for granted. Check and double check.

It is the problem in many cases because when you do not write your visa number in the space provided on the entry form, the immigration officer will assume that you are entering on a visa exempt stamp and just give you 30 days Visa exempt
