webfact
Thaksin and Yingluck now in Japan, says Prawit By The Nation Deputy PM and Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan Deputy PM and Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said on Monday said that former prime ministers Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra are currently in Japan. Without further elaboration, Prawit added that he has ordered responsible agencies to look into the matter. Photos of Thaksin and Yingluck shopping in Beijing emerged publicly about a month after Yingluck was spotted in London, where Thaksin runs businesses and owns residences. Yingluck fled from Thailand shortly before a verdict was issued in the case related to her government’s rice-pledging scheme. The verdict, which had been delayed for a month, sentenced her to five-years imprisonment without suspension. Popular Post yellowboat
I have waved my chubby little hand, made heavy with an expensive watch, and asked responsible agencies to do whatever they do to do something about the Shinawatras without elaborating. Wonder what those who work for these buffoons really think of them. If China will not give them up, Japan certainly won't. Surely you meant to say ... the watch is ticking ? The truth is that neither are wanted, or expected, to return and the government will pretend to chase them, but as slowly as possible, and purely for domestic consumption. No problem, they're free to follow their wealthy lifestyle wherever they want, so long as they don't show signs of wanting to return to fleece the country again. 3 1

Just demonstrating, by the multiplicity of non-extraditions taking place, the impotence of the junta and (despite the diplomatic visits each way) the low regard in which it is held by the world at large. Well, I think your explanation doesn't tell the whole story... If it was you or me or any other everyday schlub, we'd probably be in a Thai jail pretty darn quick. But when it's someone rich and well-connected, etc., then it becomes an entirely different matter. I think rich and well-connected has as much to do with the non-outcome as does the standing of the current govt.
