Videos: "Riddle of the mystery chairs" amuses millions online!

5pm.jpg

Picture: Thai Rath

CCTV footage had millions of online Thais in hysterics yesterday as not one but two plastic seats collapsed after being sat on my motorcycle taxi guys.

In the first video a Bang Krabi rider sits on a red chair for a quick smoke. It collapses in a heap as he lashes out at the remains.

The cause might have been put down to a little too much meat on the man's rice, however.

The same could not be said of a subsequent piece of footage later that showed a thinner "win" rider sit down and play with his phone.

He also ended up deposited on the sidewalk as shop owners, friends and a couple of inquisitive dogs come to investigate.

The poster on Facebook - Paweena Suriyawithayawech - said it was like a movie series. There is the original movie "The Chair" followed by "The Chair 2"....the question is would there be "The Chair 3?"....

Thai Rath joined in the ribaldry with a tongue-in-cheek headline calling it the riddle of the mystery chairs.

Millions viewed both videos.

5 million + views of the 1st video, according to the screen shot !!

That is why I can't have a proper conversation with most Thais. Plus the fact that my Thai is pretty average :)

I wonder how long the broken chairs remained in the sidewalk, blocking the way??? High quality stuff all around...

Wife was in hysterics when she saw it on TV this morning.

I went out and inspected our plastic chairs! --- H & S habits die hard!

I saw it happen to a very fat foreigner at one of those all you can eat BBQ's  he rolled around like a turtle on its back  couldn't get up by himself..I know its cruel but I laughed my self to tears as did everyone else who saw it...sorry no video.

Those plastic chairs go brittle after a while of UV exposure and not very sturdy to start with.

Looks to me like the bloke who gave the first chair breaker a kick for knocking the bin over

later on got some cosmic payback !

I had a brand new one collapse under me some years back, they are useless crap and i took all four i had bought the same day back to Tesco's and would not leave until i had a refund.  They didn't want to take them back but they gave in when a crowd started to gather around to see what the problem was.

Rough day at the office.?

It's close to an old slapstick comedy movie... :-)

"Made in Thailand" printed on the bottom ?

Could possibly be amusing to someone aged 4 or under.

My mil brings out an ancient plastic chair that has the broken back slats sown together with wire for me each Sunday for dinner. I always forget and start to lean back which almost does in the chair and sends me over.
I was surprised to see I had to pay ฿380 for a slightly higher quality molded plastic chair with an 8 year guarantee (worthless I’m sure) when on the same day I bought the usual aluminum and cloth recliner on the roadside for only ฿550.
I took the new plastic chair to mamas and she reserves it on the shelf for me on Sundays and I can finally lean back to relax.

Must admit it made me chuckle, especially fat boy's reaction.

The way the first guy lashed his anger at the broken chair was worth a few chuckles.

Thank you Mr. Misery.

They can’t handle the hot sun. Cheap plastic as well make them very dangerous

I was arguing with a lady friend yesterday about the dangers of getting all one's news via Facebook. I guess there's not much chance of fake news misdirecting people if everyone is more interested in watching this sort of thing...

they are easily pleased here. they would love the three stooges oh but wait there are no ladyboys in the three stooges

Laural and Hardy

Thailand's high quality chairs.
Same, same as the high quality tourists but different.

This happened to me as well one time Mfg are getting stingy with the design Its designed to hold a small Thai person Not Farang well

I need the bells and whistles or i don't know when to laugh.

Thailand needs better plastic chairs which can stand UV-light...now they buy new plastic chairs of course and same thing will happen in a few years.

I think the shop owner just wanted to get rid of Taxi people constantly sitting on their shop front. Bit of saw action on plastic legs!
