Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Friday (Feb 23) ordered the abrupt transfer of Social Development and Human Security permanent secretary Puttipat Lertchaowasit and his deputy, Narong Kongkham to perform duties at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The transfer of the two senior officials was intended to facilitate the ongoing investigation into alleged widespread corruption in the spending of the fund for the destitute by over 30 centres for the protection of the destitute across the country.

The probe is jointly undertaken by the Office of the Auditor-General and the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC).

Usual show to make the gullible think there's something being done. To be sacked must entail an absolutely enormous amount of wrong doing, corruption, ineptitude. Or maybe p155 off someone really influential.

I knew a woman who ran a bar, her husband was sacked from the RTP on some sort of corruption charge. Being cynical, I always thought he was more likely sacked for not being corrupt enough.

There was also a woman worked for the PEA in the accounts department, checking payment of electricity bills. Her scam was to come round to bars, get the owner to pay her the cash directly. It was always fifty percent of whatever was on the bill. It went on for years before she was found out. Still not sacked though.

The punishment of being transferred to PM Prayut's office should not be taken as light treatment. If the PM feels they are guilty of causing him personal embarrassment they could be in for a hell of a ride and on the end of his vicious spray's everytime he gets within range.

Stealing is OK but getting caught and causing harm to his inflated vanity is something else.
