Visa run - Philippines?

Hi, my 60 day tourist visa finishes on March 31.

 

This coincides with a trip I wanted to take around that time to Manila.

 

Is it possible to get another 60 day tourist visa in the Philippines and return to Thailand with that?

 

I’d read previously that tourist visas could be obtained in Laos quite quickly.

 

Would it be better to get a new tourist visa in Laos shortly before the March 31 expiry then use a re-entry permit to visit the Philippines?

Getting a Thai tourist visa in Manila is theoretically possible, but it is a bad place to apply. If successful, it will take several days, and there are strict requirements that must be satisfied. If you have many previous Thai tourist visas in your passports, you will likely be denied.

I've used the consul several times and had 5+ Thai Visas in my passport already.  I stopped using them because they recently changed the requirements on me with no notice and now want an invitation letter or proof of hotel bookings.

Not my experience at all. Filipina GF and I have had at least 2 Visas a year for the last five years without a problem. They are very slow tho:- lodge before 12noon on day 1, pickup after 3pm on day 3 and only M-f open

 

I always download a screen shot of my bank balance and print it out. Also provide copies of the air tickets and where we will be staying. I provide a covering letter detailing our history together.

Be aware - if you went to Laos, got a TR Visa, came back to Thailand, got a re-entry permit, and went to the PI, your 60-days TR would be "running" while you were gone.
