Hotel Canceled Booking.

Featured Replies

I have used this Bangkok hotel regularly over the years, two weeks ago I had my booking canceled three days before I was

supposed to arrive, no reason given. I booked through Booking.com and they took the money from my bank account, I emailed them for refund

and they never answered me. Anyone know what I should do to get my money back?  Thank you.

did the hotel cancel the booking or booking.com  very unusual. Assume u paid with cc, so raise the issue with them ( they can reverse the charge and if they do they charge the original site $25 )

If booking.com arbitrarily canceled your paid reservation, then you should raise the issue on their website's customer service pages, referencing the cancelled booking number. It is possible the hotel pulled the booking so expect a bit of too-and-fro while they find out what happened.

If you are a member, this should be a fairly easy task but if they are like agoda and using them only for ad hoc bookings without a formal membership, then the procedure could be a bit more tie consuming.

Thanks Nan, I will do that.

What is a formal membership?

Thanks.

I did not quote that, you will need to ask NanLaew.

Many websites allow you to make one-off bookings and payments without fully registering your details or setting up an account. agoda used to have that option years ago and since booking and agoda are now owned by the same entity these days, not sure if the 'guest' purchase option is still available. FWIW, AirAsia has a similar structure where one can buy ad-hoc without registering your details (they don't get saved) which is fine when one wants anonymity or better control of your personal data but with AirAsia, tracking booking details, chasing the (very unlikely) refund and such like isn't a benefit of 'guest' membership.

It's in the small print. caveat emptor.

If it was booking.com fault they are fairly good with refunding, reversing charges

Blame the hotel. Write to the CEO.

Who is the CEO? I wondered if the hotel canceled my booking because I gave negative reviews, but to be fair, I also gave positive reviews. ie, one neg view, shower was completely cold. One pos view, cleanliness was excellent.

Look it up.

Booking.com will refund you if you send enough messages, failing that get your VISA card to refund it, I've done both ways.

Booking.com does not take prepayments ! you pay the hotel and B.com send an invoice to the hotel they pay commission to B.com.

Thanks for a very sensible answer, how do I find out the CEO email address, I cannot even get an email address for the hotel concerned.

I am still waiting for a reply from them. They answered the first time wanting certain information, I gave it to them and that was about a week ago, still no answer back even though I have contacted them again.

Good Luck!

Thanks, but I knew that, but the CEO of booking.com or the hotel. But they are not to fussy about giving out email addresses. I am still waiting to hear back from booking.com

I agree with Nan.. I travel a lot on business and use either Hotels.com or Booking.com. When I have had cancelation issues always get my money back from these guys..Have to communicate via web which can be frustrating and takes a week or two...but they will return your money.

Simply query the one who did. Should be straight forward. I have had money returned a few times by Booking.com

Thanks, all I can do is wait.

possum .... I have sympathy for you. I reckon it really sucks when hotels accept your fully paid booking, then because it suits them at any time, they simply cancel with no reason given, and they assume the client will be satisfied with a pathetic "sorry about that"

It's very unethical in my opinion.

Try the hotels own website to see if they actually have rooms available.

After you get your money refunded, name the shoddy hotel on any internet blog you can find.

That is not true.

Nowadays, booking.com has many "prepaid" rates on offer that are non-refundable.

At the same time, their sister company agoda is now offering "pay at the property" - rates.

They mix their business model

How can we tell when we don't know the name of the hotel?
