So did the BiB arrest the watch sellers and check all their merchandise for illegal fake copies? And make sure they were allowed to be street vendors?

Why should they? There is no money in it for them the way there would be if it was a vendor with a stall.

I don't think any of those involved are US marines. Nobody really has a buzz cut. Also I had a little hand to hand training 30 years ago (non-military), and none of those guys are fighting like they've ever had any training at all. If I got involved in something like that even today I think I'd move my feet into a fighting stance without thinking. And turning your back on an aggressor? I don't think that's in the handbook!

Easy to guess what transpired, but the video starts with a watch on the ground already, so there's no proof. I guess the vendor waved the watch a little too close to the guys face and had it slapped away and dropped the watch. Farang got off easy, lucky he didn't get a knife in the kidney when he turned away.

I agree, in hand to hand training, your feet stay on the ground, even this karate stuff is no use on the street, as soon as your feet leave the ground you are at a disadvantage right away.

That's fine but what is your sat down eating?

I just spent a month in Pattaya and eat breakfast (and dinner frequently) at the same place in LK Metro...its a never ending stream of fake watches, Viagra and tourist tat sellers shoving there wears uninvited in your face every 3 mins sometime while you still have a folk in your hand...some times there is one standing behind the other waiting his term to pester you.

Do give me that **** about their only trying to make a living, eventually you just want to snap and tell them all to <deleted>!

tell them all to <deleted>!   If anyone I do not know tries to talk to me when I am eating, that's what I would do. I remember a few times when I am eating in an all you can eat buffet, I have been approached by an attendant while I am eating and asked for my ticket, I just tell them in Thai to come back later.

Aw, the poor little vendors, they are so polite and never hassle anyone, especially when they are in groups, do they? And, of course, you heard the GI mouth-off, didn't you?.

An American GI mouthing off.

From what i have seen on the not so high quality videos, "gang of Thai men attacked by American soldier" seems to be a more appropriate headline.

As much as i dislike street fighting, it's kind of refreshing to see the pack sent packing for once :coffee1:

Thais are a bunch of cowards and racists

The Thais I know are NOT cowards or racists.   Maybe you are socialising in the wrong circles.   In which case, it says more about you and the company you keep than it does about Thais in general.

Tell that to Just1Voice, then, I didn't say that he did need any help.

I never said you did, what I said was that he did not need any help

Without trawling through it to be sure I think I probably made that comment in regards to your suggestion / invitation to whoever to sort them all out had that whoever been in the vicinity

Possible second opinion needed to clarify my point, but whatever thats past for me and I am not going to resurrect it as I dont care one way or t'other

"...because he wouldn't buy one of their fake watches...".

You really think that is all there was to it?  Really?  Why should the others get involved in the fracas?  Pity you weren't around to sort them all out, eh?

I rest my case

I know exactly what I posted and what I meant by it.

Why do you write in pidgin English?

Its one of my jokes as I have an asian wife and it helps her but I forget who I am conversing with sometimes, why you no understand

Yes I know what you posted, what else do you think caused the little spot of bother apart from the refusal to buy cheap tack rubbish

Well as far as your posting goes I would endeavour in future to POST what you mean not what you SAY

Less confusion then I would guess

Speaking pidgin English helps your wife....to speak pidgin English?  You're right, it's a joke.

"...what else do you think caused the little spot of bother apart from the refusal to buy cheap tack rubbish"

How about the possibility of a bit of back-chat or winding up of the vendor?  It takes a lot more than "no, thanks" to generate a beating.

No need for you to be concerned about what you think I should endeavour to do, concentrate more on reading.

Generalisation involving a population of approx 68m is not the best idea either of you had

Just let it go

Its clear to me you dont know what happened to cause the bother

If you want to speculate be my guest

I think a smack in the gob can cause offence though, not so sure about the backchat as thats just YOUR speculation, the smack in the gob was FACT

I can only comment on what you POSTED after reading it

As far as the Pidgin English goes get a life or at least a sense of humour

Why the interest in men wearing tight pants?

Someone is really wondering what the copper's pants got to do with it?

The skinhead gentlemen are amused and wouldn't help anybody who's getting killed in front of their eyes. Me thinks they must have thought it's part of the holiday package. The gruesome part.

True maybe odd story:

I was walking thru the mall today and some US guy approached me and asked:  Hey, you hear about that soldier that got beat up?   Uh, yeah so??

He says:  Why didn't other white guys help him?  I would have gone in there and kicked everyone's A.  What is wrong with guys here?  Now yelling....Why would they not help an American soldier??

A very brief conversation resulted in the fact he is here for the first time, for 2 days.

OMG, thanks for the fact he got a phone call and I took off..

Pappy received a slappy, didn't sell a watch and wasn't happy.

Somchai called his gang, they too may have gotten their bells rang..

...hard to confirm as the video is crappy.

They got a quick serve up and back pedaled to the cripple lol

It's been a while since I took a stroll on Canal St., Chinatown  section of New York city. On that occasion, I did buy a fake Rolex. Chinese merchants there use a different tact; They qualify you then invite you to look at their make-shift catalog full of contraband product. If you make a deal, they retrieve item from secret hiding place, away from NYPD patrol view.

My  fake Rolex cost me $20 and has served me well as a conversation piece.

Lets see the police now have two charges against the Thai vendor. One being assault as he threw the first punch and secondly, breaking copyright laws by selling fake watches which is supposed to be a heavy offense. Oh let me hold my breath if he is charged with either offense.. I'm turning blue now!
