The Meteorological Department announced on Monday that Thailand has officially entered summer.

The department said summer began on Saturday with the mercury rising in upper parts of the country.

It said the northeast monsoon had also changed to southeasterly winds, signaling the change of season.

The department said the upper parts of the North and Northeast will see cool weather in the morning for days.

Summer is expected to end in May, the department added.

Summer ends in May?

There is astrological summer and then there is meteorological summer.  If that's not confusing enough, some countries align the seasonal boundaries according to special festivals or cultural ideas.  Even though summer in the USA starts around June 21, a lot people will call it summer when labor day arrives in the last weekend of May.  Meteorological summer is based on climate and weather patterns, so that could start almost any time, anywhere.
