Here are some info (that's just the first article I found) http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1959/outlook_2007_disabling_enabling_add_ins/ It could also be that you have lots of mail which make the file size huge. If you use IMAP the .ost file grows all the time and even if you delete mails is does not get smaller. That makes it slow.
