PHUKET: Heavy rain lasting only an hour long reduced traffic to a crawl on Thepkrasattri Rd in Rassada, north of Phuket Town, last night (Mar 7) as the Thai weather bureau urges caution amid Phuket’s thunderstorm season.

On Thepkrasattri Rd in front of the main SuperCheap store in Rassada – a regular site for minor flash flooding – water levels across the road rose ranged from 30 centimetres to 70cm deep, causing traffic tailbacks.

Small vehicles were unable to pass, though some motorists tried to go brave the floodwaters but failed, causing damage to their vehicles.

Didn't get a drop where I am in Chalong, but the lightning was close, and scary at times. It knocked out all power in our area for about 1/2 an hour.

Thunderstorms in the thunderstorm season who'd have guessed!

I got caught in the 'Chalong Blackout' as well but the light show made up for it.

Police in attendance at one point on Chaofa Rd as those naughty roads had claimed another victim (lady cop looked cute though).
