Fatal ignorance: poll shows rabies is misunderstood

So if you get bit, how much time do you have before getting the shots? Obviously, ASAP, but what's the limit?

If you have had the vaccination it's gives you an extra 24 hours. But more clarification on this matter of timing is required.

The typical attitude.  Who me? A bad driver? No, it's everyone else and I already know everything I need to know.  After all I went to school didn't I so I've been taught everything there is to know.

  • Malaysia has no rabies outbreak simply  by culling street dogs.

I saw a show about this from the Philippines. They graphically showed people dying of rabies and their agonizing relatives. Frankly, that's the type of thing they should show in schools here. If not for prevention, I can't imagine anyone that watched that would hesitate to get shots if bit.

I doubt many people "see nothing wrong with letting dogs lick faces, either theirs or their kids" - when it comes to unknown dogs....

Yet another vastly inflated exaggeration that only detracts from the genuine need to educate, provide rabies vaccinations etc. etc.

So you think the family dog couldn't possibly be infected with rabies or some other disease that can be communicated to humans?  It really doesn't matter to me, carry on with what you believe. I didn't mention unknown dogs but I would hazard a guess that many family owned dogs associate with them and could become infected.  My “vastly inflated exaggeration“ 555 get real!

If you bothered to read my previous post #9 you may have deduced that I agree that education is necessary. In another thread I also suggested that perhaps the govt should instruct vets to provide rabies shots for free and claim for reimbursement.
