Window Unit Air Conditioner

Featured Replies

I see the stand-alone ones on wheels, but I have never heard of any that really cool a room.  If you know of when, please mention it.

In the states, to cool a small office a 200$ (6 or 7 thousand baht) unit will work just fine.  Advice?

Move to the Philippines where old cheap American junk is still used.   Window units went out of fashion in Thailand decades ago - for good reasons.  Yes split units cost more - but do not believe anyone would want to return to window units after using split units for any period of time.  Remember you probably require a lot more cooling here than was required in the rust belt.

Yes even if you could find one
there is no comparison to a "proper" split unit aircon.

Haven't seen any of the old shaker boxes at all in Thailand....

Some in the US were quite serviceable when installed through a wall....

But the brittle brick & mortar here would just crumble.....What they have works fine, but it's not what you're looking for.....The portables with the hoses to a window are going to be your closest match....
