Why modern day Songkran is more like movie ‘The Purge’

Featured Replies

I enjoyed the Songkrans in Ubon and Warin Chamrap.

A little caution was all that was needed.

I usually sent an alert to the kids down the road as to when I would be coming along so that they could ambush me good and proper...altho' three days of drenching was generally enough..

I also thoroughly enjoyed the family get together, the water purification ceremony and the visit to the local temple-where the family's tomb(not the right word) was located.

Better to have some culture rather than none-Australian suburbia being a prime example of a cultureless wasteland.

  • What does the modern world have to do with Thailand?

  • No, it´s not sanook! It´s pure madness. Songkran is from start a beautiful tradition, that turned into be a moronic activity for brainless dorks.

  • I experianced only two Songkrans in my 12 years of living here fulltime.  The first was in Surin when I was married.  I actually enjoyed it, I went with my wife and her family to the local reservoir,

Doesn't matter where, suburbia is the graveyard of dreams, the home of the zombies, the abyss of despair, the entrance to purgatory.

Wife and car will be away.... usual arrangement.
I have the motorcycle and nearby 7-11 but it may be risky!
Rain-mac, check!

Just go out to the 7 at about 2am almost no risk of getting wet then.
