Two intelligent projects of BMA to be abolished

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is very likely to abolish two “intelligent” projects due to high investment costs. They include the intelligent car park intelligent project and the intelligent bus stop sign project.

Mr. Panich Wikitseth, the Bangkok Deputy Governor, will propose the final decision to cancel both projects to Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin later on.

The intelligent car park intelligent project is not worthwhile as the number of cars using the intelligent parking lot is not equivalent to the space available and its investment cost is too high.

The cancellation of the intelligent bus stop sign project however may have to be revised if the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) will clarify the GPS system instalment, which is included in the agreement between the BMA and the BMTA.

it's doable - in London for at least 5 years at the major bus stops.

the screen tell you when exactly your next bus is coming

One would assume with a little maintenance along the way. Spot the difference?

Anyways, a great idea. Then you know exactly when your bus is not coming while you fall into the holes in the sidewalk. :o

With all of the other ways that Thailand could invest in its infrastructure, I think this should be a #1 priority...especially since it has been so successfully implemented in London.

In London, I can buy one ticket for all bus, train, underground and boat services and they're integrated to boot. How intelligent is that. Many things are doable in London but unimaginable here.

The cancelling of these projects has nothing to do with transport efficiency and everything to do with money being taken from one person's pocket and transferred to another person's pocket.

In Shanghai, you can do that AND pay for the taxi with the same card. Why Bangkok still requires two cards for its Skytrain/Subway system is a real mystery.

No it's not...

The gates don't handle the same style of ticket. (So until you can get a thin piece of flexible plastic that would work in the skytrain, that would also have the RFID chip needed for the underground, it's not going to happen without one or the other changing all their ticket machines).

As for London, there are exceptions... - A Pre-paid Oyster card can't be used on some train services, only ones that have season passes.
