A woman who drove her pickup truck into a construction hole on a road in Surat Thani on Monday night said there was no sign to alert her to the danger.

Jurawal Dammanee, 40, said her pickup fell into the large gap where a contractor was building an underground sewage facility on Ban Saitor-Pakkhu road in Tambon Chang Sai in Kanchandit district at 10pm.

Jurawal said she saw no warning sign and the road was dark. She said there was only a sign telling to use a bypass, but the lights at the sign were turned off at that time, prompting her to drive forward and into the gap.

She said she had to climb up from the hole and call her husband to pick up her.

The construction contractor, Sunthorn Nualrat, 62, told police that he had put up warning traffic lights, and the lights were operating at the time of the incident. He noted that no other motorists had driven into the hole.

He has sought police action against the woman for hitting his warning lights.

You must be kidding.  Thank your amulets that she wasn't seriously injured.
