Still wondering why so many foreigners that get arrested or that call the police are always without shirt.   Maybe I am just old fashioned but making one a little presentable to authorities is usually a good thing.

I doubt they phoned and told him they were calling!

these 'French' Algerians sure are making France look bad recently in LOS

Again, a "French" with an arabic name ; I am French and tired to read these stories of so called French, what reputation for my country !; every time I read a title with " French", I expect a white guy, and often it's a French arabic

I wonder how FBI found him ; they looked at distance in his computer ?; for you, how do they monitor this sort of thing ?

Well maybe he didn't use a proxy when on the internet so his IP showed up.  Maybe he thought he was safe doing that in Thailand.  Lot's of maybe's actually but at least he has been caught now.

Maybe because they live in tropical Thailand and you don't?

Also, maybe he wasn't expecting the the FBI, Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation and the Chon Buri Immigration Police to be paying a visit?

It's not uncommon that RTP ask those arrested to remove their shirts, don't know why though.

Unless the guy is Dual-Citizen (French/US) how come the FBI was on his tail instead of "Europol"?
Strange.
Or is the FBI now the "world-police", making such respectable institutions like "Europol" unnecessary?
Cheers.

Because Thailand, where the crimes were allegedly committed, and the US are not part of the EU.

The FBI is involved because he is wanted in the US for profiting from the sale of the material.  It's all in the OP.

Interesting to note that the US FBI is doing a better job in monitoring such pedophiles in Thailand, then the Thai police.

On a totally different direction, what if the accused's wifi was hacked and used for illicit downloading ?

One could just hope that the charges rest on undeniable evidence with no elements of doubt, as pedophilia is a serious crime that deserves the maximum penalty for those found guilty.

Also interesting to note that he was wanted in the US so the FBI should have been doing "a better monitoring job" than the RTP even though there is no indication of who was doing the better monitoring job!  But, as this is Thaivisa, the RTP will always be perceived as ding a bad job, eh?

Officers seized as evidence the pornographic photos and video clips of Thai girls allegedly found on Kader’s home computer and on CDs and brought the man for interrogation at the Chon Buri Immigration Checkpoint Office.

There should be an investigation on some vendors in Sukhumvit road who openly sell child porn CDs. I've seen a cop waiting for a Farang to finish his cigarette and once he dropped the butt the cop wanted money.

But the cop didn't see the street vendors who openly sold these perverted child porn CDs.

If that was Sukhumvit, Bangkok, those "cops" that wait for people to drop fags ends are not cops, they are BMA officials, they are not there to arrest anyone or decide what vendors sell.

By the way, the money that they wanted is called a fine and a receipt will be given.

If Thailand should just look into the old farangs here, they will see many skeletons in their closets. Only about 1/4 are genuine.

Where has that statistic come from, did you just pull it out of your...?

That is no reason to be half naked when police and other people arrive.  As for Tropical, well, I live in Florida, and we certainly have heat and humidity here, but before I answer the door it is at the very least common decency to present oneself a bit better.  Now, if the cops broke the door down and surprised the man, well, good riddance to the pedophile.

I think his main crime is not his half-naked appearance

You certainly have a disposition to violence. Considering the fact that there has been no court case, no judgement and no discovery of evidence subsequent of the search, you just want to  cut his balls off. Nice. What happened to the presumption of innocence? Let's say  you had the opportunity to cut his balls off and it turned out there was an error. Would it be ok if your balls were cut off to compensate?

A great offer that he can hardly deny....

My apologies. After living here for 15 years, I should know this country. It was a cop, and not a BMA official/employee.

I am pretty sure this is a task force monitoring IP addresses and payment information worldwide at certain pedophile websites. It would be a waste only to arrest americans then, don`t you think?

I read about similar arrests in Norway too, where Norwegians are arrested on the same ground, with help from forces abroad. This is a worldwide problem and all cred to the FBI to pursue this across boarders.

I am usually without a shirt in my own home.

It becomes a habit and one gets absent minded about it.

I usually find one if a female guest is around.

The hoops I have to jump through to get B1 Visa's and Work Permits for a professional business and these creeps get to doss down for 10 years and do this crap ..... the authorities need to tighten on these scum bags. Makes me livid.

I will remember that especially when reading articles about computer crimes and pornography involving the FBI. One is considered innocent until proven guilty in court.

I can recall the headlines of a CEO arrested for possession of child pornography, but the article reporting his acquittal was burried in the back pages, and ignored on TV news. It turns out as I remember all the pornography found on his PC. Was found in the trash bin, and all of it was sent by the FBI.

If you are ever in a chat room and someone sends you a revealing photo asking “Do you have any naked photos of young girls to send me?” It can 99.9% be guaranteed to come from law enforcement.

I recall a case in California where a young man was arrested for possession of child porn. The US Attorney declined prosecution because he was not guilty and he was to be released the following day. Deputies in the jail had instructed other inmates to beat up the “Chester” and an innocent young man was beat to death.

It is possible he was being watched as part of an anti terrorism task force. That takes priority in the US now. They may have been monitoring all his activity and determined he was not involved in terrorism so perhaps they sent him the kiddie porn. One never really knows.  But trial by media is faster than court. It is also noted they found cd’s containing kiddie porn. That raises more questions making it difficult to prove innocence.

I have an old fashioned belief a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt IN COURT.  Too bad the headlines are not spectacular enough to publish such stories when people are found NOT GUILTY. Which is all too often the case in the US.
