Body of baby elephant recovered from Yala dam

By The Nation

The body of a baby elephant was found floating in the reservoir of the Bang Lang Dam in Yala province on Friday evening.

Police said local residents in Thanto district spotted the carcass at 5.50pm and called officials.

Park protection officials said the elephant appeared to be a year old and might have died a few days ago.

Local residents said they had seen a herd of some 20 wild elephants coming out of forests to swim in the reservoir last week.
