Exchange rate was different then, it was about $4.50 USD. The hotel was in a nice area of town near many government buildings. I used to go early, so maybe that was a happy-hour special. Up in Loei, you could get a happy ending for 30-50 Baht. Exchange rate was 20 Baht to $1 USD.

I went to one all-nighter with a cop who had just gotten off his shift once. Major boring, as I don't play cards. But the cops had just apprehended a couple Lao Hmong guys who were working for the US Embassy refugee program and I was their guide. My bad that I didn't pay them off. I was young and stupid back then.

balo
Actually 1000 baht can last you a week , if you have a kitchen and make your food at home, based on a vegetarian diet, and then of course plenty of water. Carrots, onions, potatoes, salad, chicken can be bought very cheap at Makro, Tesco or in the markets. In case of emergency if you almost run out of money you can still survive . In my home country it would not even pay for 1 day of veggies . Edited April 13, 2018 by balo
