BANGKOK, 13th April 2018 (NNT) – The Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee is to call a meeting to work on the adjustment of the police reform plan after the Songkran holiday.

CDC Chairman Meechai Ruchuphan, who is also in charge of the committee tasked to review the new draft Royal Thai Police Act that is already approved by the Cabinet, said on Thursday that the meeting to review the police reform plan is needed as the current draft does not appear to be helping implement the reform process yet.

Mr. Meechai said that the draft reform, which was prepared by the committee chaired by Gen. Boonsang Niampradit, looks too restrained and needs some adjustment in order to successfully resolve all issues in the police force.

He also expressed confidence that the planned review by the committee in charge of the new draft Royal Thai Police Act will lead to a significant difference although it looks unlikely that the reform plan will be activated by October, when the annual transfers and promotion of civil servants take place.

Its got to be pretty bad when even their own staunch allies are critical. Looks like some are realizing that the public are getting restless.

I guess the current levels of enthusiasm for period costumes hadn't yet surfaced when they did the first draft.

Got to get that included so once a week all the coppers can look totally ridiculous.

Yes. To resolve all of the issues regarding the RTP, it is going to require the inclusion of a miracle.

And  five "hail Marys" as a minimum!!

Reform !!! Reform my a++e, only way to sort this out is get rid of all the corrupt buggers and start again.

That will mean getting rid of the top corrupt echelon which will include the junta government. Never going to happen,

It's always going to be 'After' or 'Later', or lets form another Committee to 'Probe' or 'Discuss' the issue....but never actually getting on with what needs doing.   This country simply cannot move forward when their own mindset is set in concrete laid in The Dark Ages !

TRANSLATION:

An elected government might have some room to weaken RTP's relationship with the military and make it more accountable to the public, ie., by decentralizing it.
