8 Bit Bistro & Bar (3rd Road) Petition for Permanent Closure?

Located on 3rd road opposite Soi PP (soi 21).

I was wondering if anybody can shed some light on the petition mentioned here in the Pattaya Mail:

I would be very happy to sign this petition. Quite simply 8 Bit Bistro is like a turd that won't flush.

Consistently playing excruciatingly abhorrent music every single night especially from 10.30pm to 2.30am for many months now and getting progressively worse.

Situated a stone's throw from a residential area. This venue actually has no back wall to contain any of the very loud noise and bass it produces.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

To complain about noise go, in person, to City Hall and find the Department of Public Health which is on the 3rd floor of the rear building. Take full details of the bar and the days and times it makes a noise. File a written complaint. They are very pleasant and may be able to help (unless the bar is owned by some bigwig or mafia type which is probably the case if local Thais dont want to complain). Nothing else will be of any use anyway. The more people who go with you, the better.

Thanks for the reply KittenKong.

Apparently there is already a formal written complaint filed with city hall.

Technically they are not breaking any laws, they can make as much noise as they want until 2am. It's rare that it stops at 2am though, normally extending by 20 or 30 minutes most nights.

The bass is really is intolerable and the karaoke painful.

The only course of action is that people who are affected call the city hall hotline 1337 directly when the noise is happening.

So if you are affected by either 8 Bit or the club next door Fahrenheit please express your displeasure by calling the number above.

The more people the better.

They certainly cannot. The Department of Public Health will explain this to you.

This is not the only course of action and is probably not the best course of action either, as I explained. 1337 do not follow up on complaints: they only log them and call the police for you, who probably will do nothing. The complaints to 1337 are not passed on to the correct city hall department to deal with. That said, it cant do any harm to call them.

Go to the Public Health office in person, and file a written complaint for which you will get a receipt. Take full details of the bar's location and name. Take as many concerned persons as you can, if possible Thais. That may be effective. You may need to go more than once.

I see no arrogance in wanting a decent night's sleep. The fault, if any, lies with town planners who allowed entertainment venues in proximity to residential buildings, or vice versa.

And there are plenty of residential places that used to be quiet for many years until noisy bar areas opened up next door with no warning. Rompho market in Jomtien is one such but there are many others. Zoning is highly inadequate here.
