kickstart
On the 17 th-22ed January is Thailands annual dairy show, at Mortlec, Saraburi, the ground is next to the Friendship highway, Route 2 about 40km north of Saraburi ,Mortlec ,comeing from the north at Mortlec under the foot bridge bit under 1 km ,LHS .from the south before Mortlec near a Toyota dealership RHS. It will be opened by HRH Princes Mahachakri Sirindhorn. What is there? ,you can see some of the top cows in Thailand being milked over 4 days in a milking contest the best should give about 40kg a day not bad for Thailand, and a contest judging heifers ,and cows You can buy all kinds of milking equipment and drugs, it still amazes me how anyone can buy any drug over the counter , where for us 90% would be POM , prescription only medicine . And the big feed companies will be there You can buy semen dairy and beef, Yenwa should have Jersey, Brown Swiss + black and whites,. All so some beef semen Charolais, Angus, Beef master, American Brahman, they are about 500 Bart /straw. Last year Anglo Thai had some tractors there, a Ford 6600 4WD ,and a Massey Ferguson, the MF looked a strong soiled tractor Kubota should be there . Pattiepong are normally there, they are the makers of chipper/shredders, they also give a demotion, and walk behind rotervators. Being a Thai dairy show there is collection of Thai cowboys , not the one that ploughed my land last year, he was a cowboy, but Thais dressed as cowboys ?, 1970s country and western music and overpriced leather goods + food, and more food. Do not for get the Thai silly games and dodgy cds If you want a ½ day out it is all right, do not expect the same as a western dairy show ,I have been going for a good few years now ,not a lot has changed. rice555
Hello All, the Korat Show is open and less of a flee market/carney game park this year. We did the main exhibit hall first, out the back door and down the stairs, lambs on the L/H side, first row a L, and down 40M they had strawberry plants for sale. Some small and big tractors, chippers, rice mills and the usual things. On the other side of the Rd. where the they have the mushroom display, small this year and the big net house display, bigger than last year, the veg display was great. They have Naga plants for sale and other chili and tom seeds from the display for sale, 10 seeds@ Bt.10. Naga plants were 3 for Bt. 100. Have an area with herbs, didn't go out behind where the grow corn. The woolies will be there tomorrow, some pic from today. The tom is a Beefmaster Hyb. rice555

loong
Khon Kaen Ag show is now open http://www.kku.ac.th/news/2014/January/Isan-Agriculture-Fair-2014-celebrating-50-yearFacult.php I'm hoping to go on Wednesday Went today and a big disappointment. First walked past stalls selling furniture, thinking what does that have to do with agriculture. God knows how many stalls selling exactly the same sickly looking plants. Toys, really?? Saw some places that looked to be set up for seminars, but nothing going on and loads of stalls selling food. I was amazed to see stands of seed packets in full sun. Special 50 year celebration and it is crappy. Would not recommend this to anyone

Last year i bought Chang daeng mango and it died the next day, 500 baht gone. There is a lot to be learned for the Thai farmers. And this was on a university fair? Why the students don't tell the farmers how to grow or fight diseases? Well mai pen rai, i know the answer allready.

rice555
Hello All, if you have looked at the adds for the show in some Thai Ag Magazines, you would see the URL I posted, if you are a little out of touch, there's been a lot of shit going on in BKK over the past 7 months, it can be hard to make plans for a trade show that may or may not go on as scheduled. Bitec phone number is on the web page, call them and ask what's going on!!!!! Stop whining, find show links for yourself. rice555
