webfact
Video: Another fine piece of Thai driving from Phayao..... video screenshot Yet further evidence of some of the appalling and selfish driving on Thai roads was posted online after a video was made at the weekend. This latest excuse for a driver was a person in a pick-up on the wrong side of the road at some lights in the Wiang sub-district of the northern Thai province of Phayao. Oncoming traffic, then turning traffic has to go around this driver before the lights turn green and he can continue on his merry way. TV presenters shook their heads less in disbelief and more in resigned acceptance of the madness of it all. While Sanook said in the headline to their report on the video: "This is Thailand right? Pick-up going the wrong way without a care of causing an accident". Sanook added that the license plate of this miscreant was clearly visible and it should not be too difficult for the authorities to act. Disbelief and resignation. Anyone who goes near a Thai road knows incidents like this are a daily occurrence. VocalNeal
No mention of the guy doing the U-turn. I assume he had the same No U-Turn sign?
Popular Post rkidlad
Best thing to do is just shame these people. If government won’t apply the laws or give proper sentences, just shame them on social media and tv. Have an idiot of the week with their picture up and what they did, and then have people vote. Kinda dystopian but it’s for a good cause. Until the police, etc do their jobs properly, people have to find other ways to make their roads safer. 8

MrJohnson
A rather mild piece of bad and dangerous driving compared to much else. Intercity freeways are virtually racetracks these days. Terrifying!

The sign directly below the U-Turn symbol reads ห้ามรถบรรทุกตั้งแต่ 6 ล้อขึ้นไป which means 'NO U-TURN FOR TRUCKS WITH 6 WHEELS OR MORE' In the unlikely event of a foreigner who didn't understand the Thai language and driving a heavy hauler happened to disobey the sign, I suppose he would be liable as ignorance of the law is no excuse. Popular Post connda
On any given day that I drive from Lamphun to Chiang Mai and back, I have a dash-cam literally packed with examples of flawed, selfish, and out-right dangerous driving. An entire TV sub-forum could be dedicated to videos depicting the dangers of driving on Thai roads with Thai drivers. 4 1
Popular Post connda
What is used to stop this nonsense in the West? What is the Thai counterpart used for in Thailand. Escorting VIPs. Hence, why Thai drivers continue to flaunt traffic laws. Edited April 26, 2018 by connda 3 1
Artisi
Think if I were there it probably wouldn't have even registered, as it's nothing new or unusual, just another day in the LOS road kill gamble.

Popular Post ripstanley
I know this intersection very well. The driver is a total <deleted>. The vehicles turning right were very lucky not to hit him. He has travelled from about 50 metres on the wrong side and across 3 lanes of the road to be where he is. He should tuned left and travelled about 800 metres to make a legal u turn. A great example of laziness and disregards of fellow divers. 2

Only if/when their diminished numbers visiting Thailand effects "the bottom" line will anything change. The carnage is surely to remain. I feel especially sad for the innocent children who will die because of an ineffective police force and ignorant/unskilled operators of vehicles.
