Talented artist - aged 7 - bringing joy and color to children's home wall in Trang

A talented seven year old artist who has already sold his work for more than 10,000 baht was one of almost two dozen children and parents decorating a wall at a southern Thailand children home and detention facility yesterday.

The home in Trang wanted to brighten up an 80 meter long , 2.5 meter high wall to lower stress levels and please passers-by.

Some twenty people turned up with acrylic paints to depict scenes like the sea and mountains, tuk-tuks, frogs, cartoon characters and the native flowers of Trang.

Wachana Chumpuang or "Hero" aged 7 is already an accomplished artist having learnt to mix paints at the age of two. His sister Winnie, 5, and cousin Title, 6, were also there to lend a hand.

Both Hero's parents are lawyers.

His mum told Sanook that two of his works have already been sold for more than 10,000 baht.

This was his first foray into using acrylic paints and he had decided to depict a forest scene with a spider's web.
