Why do Expats Troll each other in Thailand?

Each day I have tasked myself with preparing a blog as my commitment to those that have chosen to follow me, whether on Facebook, Twitter or You Tube. At times it feels like a big hassle, whereas on other days I am chomping at the bit to share my message.

 

As an Expat living in Thailand I consider myself, and others, fairly blessed. I only need to turn on the TV or scroll through my news feed on Facebook and see the political plight of this world; and somehow living in Thailand makes me feel removed from this.

 

A Divided World – There has never been so much disharmony

 

In the UK, there is a split camp on Brexit and I am quite sure from speaking to friends, a feeling of uncertainty. The debate on Muslims is just not that clear cut and the likes of Tommy Robinson and the UKIP party are probably entitled to a voice now.

When you hear them they are never racist and not anti-Muslim, they just share the concerns of the average Joe in the street.

 

Although naturally right wing, I also consider myself fairly liberal; but with extremism being allowed to flourish and a that combined with a pandering Government seemingly scared of being labeled racist, I am very concerned for the UK going forward. How can I possibly consider going back to the UK to live with all this going on. I need to consider what is best my children’s future and, sadly, I am not convinced that can be the UK at the moment.

 

So, what has this got to do with Trolling?

 

You would have thought with the world like it is, us expats would unite and stick together in that common bond that we had somehow escaped reality; but that could not be further from the truth.

People with a life, dont spend their time on social media sites.. We are bored, and by trolling people, we get noticed. Good fun, in some sites, that is.

Why in blazes would I want to do that? Part of the reason I live in Thailand is to get away from the the Western type. If I want to stick together with Westerners I can go home to US. I have no common bond with expats in Thailand as participating in this website confirms for me.

How does living in a country under military rule, which suppresses free speech and human rights, make you feel removed from political plight ??

 

Or had you not noticed that this was the case in Thailand !!

It's not just expats trolling other expats here but a worldwide phenomenon. 

It's the times in which we live.

I take it you have never read any of the posts by Tommy Robinson?

I am sure you don't follow him on Twitter, as he is banned for life for racist abuse.

You say he "just shares the views of the average Joe on the streets."

I am not sure what streets you frequent or who you classify as an average Joe?

 

As they say you can judge a man by the company he keeps. Given the views expressed in the OP, It is not difficult to define what type of person you are.

Frankly, with all the political sh1t going on in other countries, I quite enjoy living in a country where there are no political parties.

Why do Expats Troll each other in Thailand?

 

   Just read some threads on TV, where people are pissed off when another foreigner says hello to them when shopping at Big-C. 

 

   The biggest enemy of foreigners in Thailand seem to be other foreigners.

so shall we forget all the Muslim people who served in both World Wars, who currently serve in the forces in the UK? Or, those Muslims that do countless charity work in the country, who pay taxes, who live their lives just like anyone else?
