I have a GPS. If any vehicle is pulled over for a traffic violation, police will not ignore criminal behaviour of a passenger. Why would being a passenger exempt you from search at a checkpoint?

Taxi's are sort of the exemption. But, apparently not here.

Currently working as a taxi driver in Oz, I think that is pure BS.

I would have thought it was more a matter of credit to Korn and his wife who did the right thing and didn't take the traditional easy way out that would have been available to people of their background (ie showing honourable civic minded behaviour that 90% of that class would not have shown).
