PATTAYA:--Pattaya tourists and residents needing police help can now use the “Police iLert You” smartphone app to call the cops.

Chonburi police chief, Pol. Maj. Gen. Nantachart Suppamongkol and his Pattaya counterpart, Pol. Col. Apichai Kroppech, announced that Pattaya Police Station is now supporting the software.

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology introduced iLert You to provide emergency medical assistance in August 2013, testing it first with the National Institute for Emergency Medicine, Thai Airways International, Advanced Info Service and Bangkok Hospital’s network. The app became widely available in the Google and Apple app stores in 2015, but wasn’t supported by Pattaya-area authorities.

Complete with singing and dancing by the Pattaya Police Band, local authorities announced the app can be used as an alternative to calling 191, a hotline that can be overloaded at times.
