Once Bitten Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 What kind of person takes a cruise not for a week or a month, but for the rest of his life? Meet Mario Salcedo, who says that nearly 20 years of nonstop cruise ship living have made him “The Happiest Guy in the World” — though the truth of that claim may be in the eye of the beholder. I'm not sure this lifestyle would suit me , living for 20 years on cruise ship would no doubt drive me up the wall . But then again may be the guy's right and it does have more advantages than a normal land based life . Could you see your self spending the rest of your life living on a cruise ship . . 1 1
tukkytuktuk Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Of course he's happy, he doesn't work, he likes living on a ship and he gets to meet new people all the time. Think of those in the navy who work in a submarine for months on end without shore leave. To me it's like, I suppose living in a shopping mall that floats and travels from one place to the next. I like the shopping mall, I could live a week in one non-stop, a cabin to sleep in. Especially with plenty of spending money. The thing I don't get with this guy is why he never goes a shore. Maybe he's like an old pirate who hates walking on land, 'not a land lover'. He also confesses to enjoy being alone. Well, there's the old saying 'no man is an island', isn't there.
holy cow cm Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Depends on his cabin and where it is. Good for him though!
janclaes47 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 I once read, not sure if true, that if you do some research that continuously doing cruises doesn't cost you more than an elderly home in Europe. And you get excellent food, as many showers as you like every day, and are taken care of as a king or queen.

Read about a retired woman who does it and it is actually cheaper than all her other options. 1
