Ugly Thai man with babe for a wife to get new face for 30 baht!

A Surin man who has a severe facial problem - but who has a beautiful wife - has gone to Bangkok for surgery.

 

The story of Bunmee Khanthong - or "Mee Mee" - went viral on the internet last month as his wife "Nong B" or Phatsara said she would stick by her husband no matter what.

 

Now doctors in Surin have referred Mee Mee to surgeons at Chulalongkorn Hospital.

 

He will be operated on by Dr Sirichai Jindarak under the government's 30 baht universal healthcare system.

 

The latest episode in the story that has captivated Thai social media was on Facebook where pictures of the couple were shown on the "Big Karian" page, said Sanook.

Good for the doctors finally doing something for this poor man.

Just a shame that his case had to be brought into the spotlight by social media, before he got help.

Good luck for him and his wife. This is something that should be given at the first visit to a hospital with a condition like that.

Whereas I agree with your sentiments, in any public hospital prioritizing who gets what is never easy. In a country like thailand the resources are truly very stretched.

That's what 200 baht gets you, so I don't like his chances on a 30 baht budget !!!

Yoy are right ,if it wasn't for the media calling attention to this it might have never had happened. Because of the media being alerted by cameras on cell phones there are a lot of people in need helped, more crimes being reported ,corrupt  officials being found out ,thus giving a little power back to the citizens of the world.
