webfact
PM accuses the media of trying to undermine his premiership By Thai PBS Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha on Wednesday vented his frustration at the media, accusing them without naming names of attempting to destroy the “honor” of Thai premiership. While delivering a speech on the occasion of Anti-Human Trafficking Day, the prime minister unexpectedly took on the media. It wasn’t immediately clear what triggered his outburst. Judging from his grumbling, however, journalists at the Government House believed that he had been irked by certain news reports critical of him and his government. But when asked by a reporter which newspaper columns had offended him, he did not respond but merely said: “because I am human. I am a man and I work for men, for Thailand, for Thai people. I am what I am, but I will make this duty honorable, with dignity here and abroad. I believe that various International and national organisations have launched extensively equipped search parties to discover 21st Century Shangri-La but they were intercepted by Thai customs and fined and deported. Only their empty wallets remain as mute testimony of the fate of those who wish to discover the exotic East. 4

Popular Post ChidlomDweller
It's kind of unfair on him. In pre-Enlightenment Europe, which is where Thailand is now politically, rulers didn't have to deal with a pesky press, so why should he? It's really bad emough being ruled by a gang of thieves (today's news stories: unnecessary parliament building stupendously over budget, plans to launch satellites into space...), but the daily whining, self-pity and pious pretense of sacrifice are vomit-inducing. 12

Popular Post JAG
A Prime Minister , with a mandate and program which had been chosen in an election in which he (or she) had stood against others and won a majority of votes would perhaps have grounds to complain, and may find some sympathy. A Prime Minister who appointed himself, having seized power in a coup in order to forestall an election and subsequently has effectively ruled by decree, can also find sympathy, it's in the dictionary between... 6
